woowtech aiot Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-13
This policy explains how WOOW TECH CO., LTD. (Taiwan business ID 84006751, "WOOW", "we") handles data in the woowtech aiot mobile app for iOS and Android (the "App").
1. How the App works
The App is a control interface for your own smart-space hub (a Home Assistant server). Your devices, automations and sensor history are stored on your own hub.
WOOW cannot access your hub or see the data on it. What the App exchanges with your hub does not pass through WOOW's servers, except push notifications as described in section 3.
2. Data sent to your own hub (not received by WOOW)
Depending on the features you enable, the App sends the following directly to the hub you configured:
- Location: precise location, including background location and zone entry/exit; can be turned off in the App settings
- Device sensors: for example battery, network and Wi-Fi name, Bluetooth connections and phone state; each can be turned off individually
- Device information: device name, model, operating system version and a device identifier
- Features you use: voice assistant audio, text you share to the App, NFC tags you scan and camera views; sent only when you use that feature
This data is controlled and retained by you or your hub's administrator. If your hub uses a remote access service such as Home Assistant Cloud (Nabu Casa), that processing is governed by your arrangement with that provider, not by WOOW.
3. Push notifications (data WOOW handles)
So your hub can reach your phone, the App uses a push relay operated by WOOW. It works as follows:
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Push token (a per-device code for push delivery) | Deliver notifications to the right phone | The relay records only a one-way hash of the token with a daily notification count (to prevent abuse), deleted automatically after the count expires, usually within 48 hours |
| Notification content (title, body and attached data) | Forwarded to Google or Apple push services for delivery to your phone | Forwarded in real time, not stored; error logs do not contain notification content |
| Connecting IP address, device model | Not used | Not logged by the relay |
When you open the App's settings, it checks your remaining daily notification allowance with the relay, sending your push token; this is handled the same way.
The relay runs in Google Cloud's Taiwan region and is reached through Cloudflare's network.
4. Third-party services
| Service | Data | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android, iOS) | Push token, Firebase installation ID, notification content, and diagnostic data collected by Google's own components | Push delivery. See the Google Privacy Policy |
| Apple Push Notification service (iOS) | Device push token, notification content | Required for iOS push. See the Apple Privacy Policy |
| Cloudflare | Network traffic to the push relay | Network transport for the connection; request logging on this service is turned off |
| Address lookup (iOS: Apple; Android: the phone's built-in geocoder) | Latitude and longitude | Coordinates are converted to an address only if you turn on the "address" sensor, which is on by default on iOS and can be turned off in settings |
| ipify (Android only, optional) | Your phone's public IP address | Used only if you turn on the "public IP" sensor |
The App contains no ads and does not track you for advertising. Apart from the diagnostic data collected by Google's push components described in section 4, we do not collect your data for analytics.
5. Data stored on your phone
The App stores sign-in credentials (in the system's secure storage), settings, notification history, recent location history and widget caches on your phone. This data is not sent to WOOW.
- Notification history: the latest 500 notifications are kept; you can also delete them in the App
- Location history: Android keeps the last 48 hours; iOS deletes it after about 10 days
- On Android, system Auto Backup may back up App data to your own Google account; this is controlled by your phone's backup settings
Uninstalling the App deletes this data. Data already sent to your hub must be deleted on your hub.
6. Permissions
The App asks for permissions only when you use related features, such as location, notifications, camera, microphone, Bluetooth, NFC and motion (used for the barometer). You can turn them off at any time in your phone's settings; the related features will then stop working.
7. International transfers
The push relay is located in Taiwan. Google, Apple and Cloudflare may process push-related data on servers outside Taiwan, including in the United States. Using push notifications means this data is transferred to the countries or regions where those providers operate.
8. Children
The App is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect children's data.
9. Your rights and contact
Because WOOW keeps almost no data that identifies you, and most data stays on your own hub and phone, you can view, change or delete it directly there.
Deletion requests: You may email [email protected] at any time to request deletion of data WOOW holds about you. What WOOW holds is limited to hashed counters in the push relay (deleted automatically, usually within 48 hours); data on your hub and phone can be deleted on those devices as described in section 5.
